View a Datastore's Lineage
A datastore's Lineage tab shows which datastores it exchanges data with, the lineage between it and any one of them, and every container in it that has lineage. These views are read-only. For what each one shows, see Datastore-level Lineage.
Steps
Shows the datastores that feed this one and the ones it feeds.
Step 1: Open the datastore and go to its Lineage tab.
Step 2: The map opens with this datastore in the middle, the datastores that feed it on the left and the ones it feeds on the right.
Step 3: To follow the chain further, click a chevron on the outer side of a card. Expand upstream adds the next datastores along, and Expand all upstream opens everything behind that card. The downstream chevrons work the same way.
Step 4: Click a + N more card, or Show more on the toolbar, to show the cards not drawn yet.
Shows only the connections between this datastore and one other.
Step 1: Open the datastore and go to its Lineage tab.
Step 2: Click the footer of the card you want, such as 12 of 40 tables send data directly. The UI uses the datastore's own word for its containers, so a file store reads files.
Step 3: The canvas opens with the containers of the two ends, and of any datastores in between, connected as data moves between them.
Step 4: Click Back , or press Esc with nothing selected, to return to the map.
Shows every container of this datastore that has lineage, drawn in groups.
Step 1: Open the datastore and go to its Lineage tab.
Step 2: Click View all N linked tables on the center card.
Step 3: The canvas opens with the containers drawn in groups. If the datastore is large, click Show more on the toolbar to draw the next part.
Step 4: To find a container, type its name in Search assets at the top left and pick it from the list.
Step 5: To add or delete a connection, click Open this table's lineage beside a card's name (the icon is drawn rotated). That container's lineage opens, where editing is available.
Step 6: Click Back , or press Esc with nothing selected, to return to the canvas, and again to return to the map.
Tip
Clicking a card's anomaly badge, when it shows an alert, opens the same view as its footer.
