Bulk Edit Tables and Files
Use this flow to change many tables or files of a datastore at once. To change many fields of a table, see Bulk Edit Fields. For the platform-level tag catalog and how tags reach the fields and checks of a table, see Tags and Tag Inheritance.
Permissions
Bulk editing tables and files requires the Editor team permission (or higher) on the datastore. See Team Permissions.
What You Can Change
The Bulk Edit dialog offers the options below. Each option you turn on shows how it is applied next to its name.
| Option | How it is applied |
|---|---|
| Tags | Overwrite (the default) replaces each item's tags with the ones you pick; tags that are not in your selection are removed, except external tags imported from a data catalog, which stay. Add keeps each item's current tags and adds the ones you pick, without duplicating a tag it already has. |
Note
With Overwrite and no tag picked, Save removes every tag from the selected items, apart from external tags. To leave an option as it is, turn its toggle off; Save stays disabled while every option is off.
To make the same change through the API, send PATCH /api/containers with a list of { "id", "tags", "tags_mode" } entries, where tags_mode is replace (the default) or add.
Other Bulk Actions
The same Bulk menu offers more actions for the selected tables or files. Each one opens its own flow:
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Run > Profile or Scan | Starts a Profile or a Scan on the selected items. See Run. |
| Observability | Opens the observability settings for the selected items. See Observability Settings. Not offered on an enrichment datastore. |
| Export | Writes the quality check, field profile, and anomaly metadata of the selected items to the enrichment destination. See Export. Offered only when the datastore has an enrichment destination. |
| Materialize | Writes the data of the selected items to the enrichment destination. See Materialize. Offered only when the datastore has an enrichment destination. |
| Promote computed tables computed files |
Promotes the selected computed tables or computed files to another datastore. Shown when the selection includes one, and available only when every selected item is of that type. See Promote Computed Tables and Promote Computed Files. |
| Delete | Removes the selected items from Qualytics. See Delete. |
Which actions appear depends on your permissions on the datastore.
Steps
Step 1: Open the datastore and go to its Tables tab, or its Files tab on a file-based datastore.
Step 2: Hover over each table or file you want to change and click the checkbox on its row. To select every item on the current page, click the Select all in page checkbox. The top of the list turns into a selection toolbar showing the count, for example 3 selected.
Step 3: Click the Bulk menu button in the selection toolbar.
Step 4: Click Edit in the menu.
Step 5: The Bulk Edit Tables dialog opens, or Bulk Edit File Patterns on a file-based datastore. The Tags option is already on, with Overwrite selected, and the notice at the top reads This action will overwrite Tags for followed by the number of selected containers.
Step 6: Set each option you want to change:
- Tags: keep Overwrite, or click Add to keep each item's current tags. Click the tag field and pick the tags to apply; they appear as chips in the field.
Hover over Overwrite or Add to see what each one does. The notice updates with your choice, for example This action will add to the existing Tags for 3 selected containers.
Step 7: Click Save. Every selected table or file is updated, and a success message appears.
