Link a Data Catalog Asset

Link a field to its counterpart asset in a connected data catalog. Linking manually is the way to correct an automatic match that picked the wrong asset, or to set the link when the automatic match found none.

Permission Required

You need the Editor team permission on the field's datastore, and at least one data catalog integration must be connected.

Steps

Step 1: Navigate to your datastore overview and select the field in the tree.

Step 2: Click Data Catalog Links in the tree footer. Or click the field's Settings button and select Data Catalog .

Step 3: When the field is not linked yet, the dialog shows Not linked to a data catalog. Click Link an asset .

Step 4: Find the asset in the picker:

  • Type into Search by name or identifier and pick from the results, or
  • Click From URL next to the search field. A small box opens; paste the asset's URL from the catalog into it and click Get identifier. Qualytics reads the asset's identifier out of the URL and finds it for you.

Step 5: Select the asset and click Save.

Step 6: The link card appears, showing the asset's name, identifier, and location in the catalog. The Open in [catalog] button now opens the asset directly in the catalog.

Manual links

A link you set yourself is a manual link, and later synchronizations never overwrite it. It corrects this field only; to fix how everything under a datastore resolves, link the datastore itself. See Data Catalog Links on Fields for how manual and automatic links behave.
