Edit a User
Use the Edit action to update a user's role or team assignments, and to review the groups the identity provider presented the last time the user signed in.
Permissions
Only users with the Admin role can edit other users. See the Permissions page for details.
Steps
Step 1: From any page of the application, open Settings in the left sidebar. The Settings page opens with its tabs across the top.
Step 2: Click the Access tab.
Step 3: Click the Users tab. The list shows every active account, one per row, with the user's name and email, type, role, teams, and last activity.
Step 4: Locate the user you want to edit. Type part of their name or email in the Search field at the top of the list, or narrow the list with the Sort by dropdown and the filter panel next to it.
Deactivated accounts
The Edit action is not offered for deactivated accounts. To change one, reactivate it first. Deactivated accounts are hidden by default; set the Account status filter to Inactive or All to see them.
Step 5: Click the vertical ellipsis at the right end of the user's row. A dropdown menu appears with the available actions.
Step 6: Click Edit . The Edit User dialog opens.
Step 7: Review the Profile Information section at the top of the dialog. It shows the user's Name and Email as read-only fields (or an Identifier when the account has neither). These values come from the identity provider or the invitation and cannot be changed here.
Step 8: In the Access & Membership section, make your changes:
- Role: open the dropdown and pick Admin, Manager, or Member. A role is required, so the field cannot be left empty. See User Roles for what each role allows.
- Teams: open the field to add or remove teams. Select a team to add the user to it, or deselect it to remove them. Selected teams appear as chips inside the field. See Team Permissions for what team membership grants.
Identity Provider Groups
Below Teams, the dialog shows a read-only Identity Provider Groups field with the groups the identity provider presented the last time this user signed in. It is there to explain Team membership: if group sync is on, the user is added to any Team whose name matches one of these groups, so comparing the two fields shows why someone did or did not land on a Team. When nothing was presented, it reads "No groups presented by the identity provider".
The field cannot be edited, because the identity provider owns the listing and a change here would be discarded at the next sign-in. Change group membership in the identity provider instead. The field does not appear for Service accounts. See Just-in-Time Provisioning and Group Sync.
Step 9: Click Save at the bottom of the dialog to apply the changes. If you want to discard your changes instead, click Cancel or the X in the top right corner of the dialog; the user keeps their current role and teams.
Step 10: A success message appears, the dialog closes, and the user's row in the list shows the updated role and teams.
