Add a Slack Notification
Add a Slack notification action to a Flow to post interactive alerts into a Slack channel whenever the trigger activates. For the message format, the actions you can take from Slack, and the concept behind the channel, see the Notifications deep dive.
Integration Required
Before using Slack notifications in Flows, you need to connect the Slack integration in Settings > Integrations. See the Slack Integration setup guide for instructions.
Permission Required
You need the Manager role to edit and publish Flows. See Flow Permissions for details.
Field reference
The Slack Settings panel shows the following field. There is no message field to fill in. Slack composes the message from its own template, and each trigger type produces its own format (see Notifications). The Preview section below the field shows how the notification will look.
| Field | Required | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Channel | Option | The Slack channel where notifications will be sent. The available channels are retrieved from your connected Slack workspace. |
No message field
Slack composes the message itself from the event, as its own interactive layout, so the panel has no Message field and no Reset to defaults button. The Preview field shows what a recipient will see.
Steps
Step 1: Navigate to the Flows page by clicking Flows on the left side panel.
Step 2: On the Definitions tab, click the Flow. On its canvas, click the dashed Action placeholder after the trigger, or the + handle at the bottom edge of a node.
Step 3: In the List of Actions panel, pick the Notification category, then click Slack. The Slack Settings panel opens on the right-hand side.
Step 4: Pick the Channel and check the Preview.
Step 5: Click Test Notification to send a sample message with dummy data and confirm the destination and formatting. A confirmation message appears when it is delivered.
Step 6: Click Save. The node shows a CHANGED badge and the You have unpublished changes banner appears on the canvas.
Step 7: Click Publish to make the action live.
