Filter and Sort Observability¶

Search, filter, and sort the Observability lists to find the tables and metric checks you want to monitor.

The lists appear on Explore > Observability, and on the Observability tab of a datastore or of a table or file. Each of the Measures and Metrics tabs has its own controls, and which ones it offers depends on where you opened the lists.

To sort, select a criterion, then pick its direction on the same row. The list reorders when the menu closes. Click the arrow to the left of the selected criterion to switch between ascending and descending order.

To filter, pick a filter on the left side of the Filter menu, choose its value on the right, and click Apply. Clear at the top of a filter's options resets that filter. Clear all at the top of the menu resets every filter at once.

Next to the filter's name, at the top of its options, a drop-down sets how the selected values match. It lists only the operators that filter supports, and starts on the first operator in its list.

Operator	Shows
is any of	The items that match at least one selected value.
is not any of	The items that match none of the selected values.
is all of	The items that match every selected value, such as the items that carry all of the selected tags.
is empty / is not empty	is empty shows the items with nothing set for that filter, such as no tag. is not empty shows the items with something set.
is / is not	The items that match the selected value, or the items that don't, for filters where you pick one value.

On the Measures tab, the Report Date and Timeframe controls also set the period the charts show: Report Date is the last day of the period, and Timeframe looks back from it by a Week, Month, Quarter, or Year.

Permissions

Any user with at least the Reporter team permission on the datastore can search, filter, and sort the Observability lists. See Observability Permissions for details.

Pick the tab below for the place you opened the lists from.

ExploreDatastoreTable or File

Open Explore > Observability. The lists cover every datastore you can access. To narrow them by datastore or tag, use the Source Datastores and Tags selectors at the top of the Explore page.

MeasuresMetrics

The Search field finds tables and files by identifier or name.

Sort

Sort	Description
Active Anomalies	Orders the list by how many active anomalies from Volumetric and Freshness checks each table or file has, Most or Fewest first. Anomalies from other check types are not counted. This is the default order.
Active Checks	Orders the list by how many active Volumetric and Freshness checks each table or file has, Most or Fewest first. Other check types are not counted.
Created Date	Orders the list by when each table or file was added, Newest or Oldest first.
Last Scanned	Orders the list by when each table or file was last scanned, Newest or Oldest first. Tables and files that were never scanned appear at the bottom of the list on Newest.
Name	Orders the list alphabetically by name, A-Z or Z-A.
Type	Orders the list alphabetically by container type, A-Z or Z-A.

Filter

Rule Type	Shows only the tables and files tracked by Volumetric checks or only those tracked by Freshness checks.

The Search field finds metric checks by identifier or description. The tab has no filter menu.

Sort

Open a datastore and select its Observability tab. The lists are already scoped to that datastore.

MeasuresMetrics

The tab holds a single card for the table or file, so it offers only Report Date and Timeframe. It has no Search field, sort menu, or filter menu.

The Search field finds metric checks by identifier or description.
