Data Overview

The Data Overview section of Insights gives a high-level view of your data and its sources for the selected period. Three metrics report scale, and the Data Volume chart shows how that scale moved.

Data Under Management, Datastores, and Containers

These three sit together in one panel and report the size of your estate on the report date.

What Each Metric Counts

All three metrics also count your enrichment datastores, where Qualytics writes its own output such as the records behind an anomaly. That means the numbers cover data Qualytics produced as well as the data you connected, so expect them to run higher than a count of your source systems alone.

A container that existed on the report date still counts toward Data Under Management on that date, even if it was deleted since, so rerunning last month's report today returns last month's figure.

How the Numbers Are Shown

Only Datastores and Containers carry a change percentage. Data Under Management reports a count on its own. When a count did not move over the timeframe, its percentage is left off rather than shown as zero.

These three also print differently from the summary cards elsewhere on the tab. Data Under Management and Containers show the full number with thousand separators, so the exact count is already on screen and there is nothing to hover. Datastores is abbreviated once it passes a thousand.

Data Volume

This panel sits beside the three metrics and turns the same idea of scale into a history.

Data Volume is a line chart of how many rows were recorded over time, across the data the current filters include. Each point is the latest measurement taken in that period, so the line follows the level your data reached rather than counting what happened during the period.

The Group By control in the chart header decides how finely that history is split, into days, weeks, months, or quarters. Which of those you can choose depends on the timeframe, and Change How a Chart Is Grouped lists every combination. Reading a quarter by week shows the shape of the change, while the same quarter by month smooths it into a trend.

Use it to spot unexpected growth or drops, to monitor ingestion patterns, and to compare volume against known business cycles.

Reading the Line

Two visual cues are worth knowing.

• A dashed grey segment means nothing was measured for that stretch. The chart still joins the two nearest real measurements so the line stays unbroken, but that piece is an estimate of what happened in between rather than anything that was recorded. That is what the grey dashes tell you, and the shading under the line drops away there for the same reason.
• A pulsing amber point at the end of the line means measurements for the report date are still being recorded. Hovering it says so. It appears when you view today from a time zone behind UTC, where the day's measurement may not have landed yet. To keep the line from appearing to collapse, that point carries the previous value forward until the real measurement arrives, and the segment leading into it is drawn grey and dashed like any other estimate.

Why It Does Not Match Data Under Management

The chart covers a narrower population than Data Under Management. It includes containers measured by the volumetric sweep and containers with volumetric tracking enabled, while Data Under Management counts every container regardless of how its record count was obtained. The two are expected to differ.
