Quality Score

The Quality Score section of Insights tracks the overall health and reliability of your data across the eight quality dimensions. It holds two panels. Score Summary is the score as it stood on the report date, and Score Progression is how that score moved across the timeframe.

Before you read the numbers

What gets counted here is set by the filters, and every value follows the same reading conventions, such as what a percentage compares against and when a number reads --.

Score Summary

This panel reports the score as a single number for the report date, then breaks it into the eight dimensions behind it.

Score Summary shows the overall Quality Score as it stood on the report date, as a ring with the value at its center and the change over the timeframe beside it, plus a breakdown by dimension.

The score is the average across the containers that have been scanned and have a recorded score. Every container counts equally, so a small reference table moves the overall number as much as your largest one.

Only scanned containers count toward the score

A container that has never been scanned does not contribute at all. That is why the score can read -- on a deployment where you have only run profiles. Profiling on its own does not produce a Quality Score, a scan does.

Each container's own score is built from its eight dimensions, and how much each dimension counts is set by the quality score settings on its datastore or on the container itself.

The Dimension Breakdown

Each dimension row shows its value, a bar, and the change percentage. The bar carries two readings at once. The solid portion is the lower of the current value and the value at the start of the timeframe, and the band extending past it is the difference between them, colored green when the dimension rose and red when it fell. A dimension sitting at zero is shown dimmed.

Two icons can appear beside a dimension name, never both.

Icon Meaning
Hover to see what the dimension measures. This is the default.
Replaces the information icon when the dimension scores above zero and below 30. Hover to see a recommendation for improving it. A dimension at exactly zero keeps the information icon, since there is nothing measured to act on yet.

The Eight Dimensions

The eight dimensions are the same ones Qualytics reports everywhere it shows a Quality Score.

Dimension What it measures
Completeness Percentage of fields with non-null values. Measured from profiling rather than from checks.
Coverage Count and frequency of checks asserted for each asset.
Conformity Adherence to specified formats and business rules.
Consistency Uniform data types and representation over time.
Precision Field value resolution against defined quality checks.
Timeliness Data availability according to the expected schedule.
Volumetrics Consistency in data volume and shape over time.
Accuracy How well field values match their real-world counterparts.

Score Progression

This panel reports the same score over time, so you can see when it moved and which dimension moved it.

Score Progression shows how the recorded Quality Score moved across the timeframe. Each point is the score as it stood at the end of that period, not an average of the period, and a container that was not rescored in a period keeps its last known score.

Choosing What the Chart Plots

Buttons beside the chart switch what is plotted, and the chart shows either the overall line or a selection of dimensions, never both at once. Total Score is what you see by default. Selecting any dimension replaces the total line with that dimension's, and selecting more adds them alongside each other, each in its own color. Selecting Total Score again clears the selection and brings the overall line back.

A dimension with no recorded data in the timeframe is disabled, with a tooltip saying so.

When nothing was recorded across the whole timeframe, the chart is replaced by a faded placeholder reading No data available.
