Apply a Tag¶
Put an existing tag on a datastore, a table or file, a field, a check, a check template, or an anomaly. A tag applied to a datastore or a table also reaches the assets inside it.

- Move a Tag to Another Tag to replace a tag on many assets.
- Remove a Tag from Assets to take a tag off many assets.
- Concept: Tag Inheritance for where the tag goes from there.
Permission Required
You need the team permission that lets you edit the asset: Editor for datastores, tables, files, and fields, Drafter for Draft checks, Author for Active checks and anomalies, and the Manager role for check templates. A team tag goes only on its team's datastores, by its team's members and Admins. See Tag Permissions.
Where Each Asset Is Tagged¶
| Asset | Step by step |
|---|---|
| Datastore | Assign a Tag |
| Check | Edit Checks |
| Anomaly | Add Tags |
Tag Many Assets at Once¶
Tables, files, fields, checks, check templates, and anomalies can be tagged in bulk from their lists. Each bulk edit offers Overwrite, which replaces the current tags, or Add, which keeps them and adds the ones you pick.

Steps¶
Step 1: Open the asset you want to tag.
Step 2: Open its tag picker, in the asset's Tags field.
Step 3: Search for the tag and select it. Tags are grouped by scope: Global first, then the teams whose tags are already selected, then the other teams, then External. To create a tag without leaving the asset, click Add tag . See Create a Tag From a Tag Picker.
Step 4: Save the asset if its form asks for it. The tag appears on the asset.
Other teams' tags already on the asset show a lock icon. They stay in place when you edit the asset's tags, and only their team's members and Admins can remove them.
