Remove a Tag from Assets¶
DC Removing a tag from selected assets
Removing takes a tag off the assets you select, from one place, without opening each asset. The tag stays in the library and on every asset you did not select, except the assets the selected ones reach.

What happens when a tag is removed
- The selected assets lose the tag, and so do the assets they reach: the tables, fields, and checks inside a datastore, the fields and checks of a table or file, the checks of a field, and the checks created from a check template.
- Flows, schedules, and saved filters that use the tag stop matching those assets.
- You can remove the tag only from assets you can edit. External tags cannot be removed this way.
What Can Stop a Removal¶
| Situation | What you see |
|---|---|
| The Data Catalog module is off, or the tag is an external tag | Remove is not offered. |
| An asset is one you can't edit | It shows no checkbox on the Assets tab, so it can't be selected. Check templates also need the Manager role and access to every linked datastore. |
| Another change is updating the same assets | The removal fails with Some of these assets are being updated right now. Try again in a moment. Nothing changes, so you can retry. |
Steps¶
Step 1: Open the tag's page and click the Assets tab.
Step 2: Select the checkbox of each asset to remove the tag from. The selection bar shows how many are selected.
Step 3: Click Remove in the selection bar. The Remove Tag from Assets dialog opens and says how many assets lose the tag.
Step 4: When the selection includes a datastore, a table or file, a field, or a check template, the removal can reach other assets, so click Review to see every asset that loses the tag, then click Confirm.
Step 5: Click Remove. The tag is removed and the list updates.
