Delete a Tag

Delete a tag you no longer need. It is removed from the library and from every asset that carries it.

Permission Required

Admins delete any tag. Other users delete the tags of teams where their team holds the Editor team permission. See Tag Permissions.

Before You Delete

The Delete Tag confirmation explains what goes with the tag:

What Happens Description
Tagged Assets The tag is removed from every datastore, table, file, field, check, check template, anomaly, and Flow that carries it, existing anomalies included.
Filtering & Organization Saved filters and views that use the tag no longer return the assets it was on.

The importance of the checks that carried the tag, and the impact of their open anomalies, update on their own. The weights of the tables and fields that carried it are not recalculated by the delete. See When Weights Are Recalculated.

This action cannot be undone

To keep the assets tagged under another name, merge the tag instead.
