Expand the Graph
The graph opens on the container you are looking at and its immediate neighbours. Expanding loads more of the chain, one step at a time or all the way to its end.
Steps
Loads the next level of connections from a single node, on the side you choose.
Step 1: Hover the side of the node you want to extend. A single chevron appears on that edge when the node has connections that are not on the canvas yet, pointing left for upstream and right for downstream.
Step 2: Click the single chevron. The next level of connections on that side is added to the graph.
Step 3: Repeat from any node at the new edge of the graph to keep going.
Follows one side of a node to the end of its chain in a single action.
Step 1: Hover the side of the node you want to extend.
Step 2: Click the double chevron, for upstream or for downstream. It sits outside the single chevron, so distance from the node matches distance travelled.
Step 3: That whole side is added, following each connection onward up to 20 steps out from the node. If the chain is longer, click again from a node at the new edge to continue from there.
Expands a whole side of the graph without picking a node first.
Step 1: Click More options on the toolbar at the bottom left of the canvas.
Step 2: Choose Expand upstream or Expand downstream . Either entry is greyed out when there is nothing left to load on that side, or while another expansion is still running.
Note
Expanding is one way. There is no collapse, so the only way back to the starting view is to reload the Lineage tab. Use Reorganize on the toolbar when the layout gets hard to read after several expansions.
